Canaima is the official distribution of the Venezuelan state built collaboratively, focusing on the development of tools and production models based on the Information Technology (IT) Free software and operating systems whose goal is to generate national capacities, endogenous development, ownership and promotion free knowledge, without losing your original theme: building a technologically prepared Venezuelan nation.
Using Canaima is common in Venezuelan public schools, to be used in the «Canaima Education» Project, which aimed at equipping students over 3 million school children with laptops Magallanes and use case has been presented at international conferences on the use of open standards, and despite its recent development has been used in the Latin American Festival of Free Software Installation (FLISOL) where it has been installed on the computers of many users.
Canaima GNU/Linux is one of the most important achievements of Venezuela very recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) and for me it is an honor and a privilege to be part of this project. Contribute my bit for this to continue to grow.
The tour Canaima is one of my favorite works carried just inside CNTI geared for new users coming to GNU / Linux, one of the things more complicated are made to understand, is that the desktop environment has nothing to do with the OS and the correct operation.
A good way to teach them to interact with the different desktops without having to install anything, is to use the Guided Tours from the browser, which in Canaima implemented since version 4.0, using the power of HTML5. For version 4.0 of the was Tour Canaima based on tour Ubuntu.
The tour of Canaima 4.1 is a fork of symbiosis, which is made to look like the adaptation GNAMON Canaima Theme GNNU / Linux.
